Settings Basics

Open Quick Actions on your Fire tablet to quickly adjust screen brightness, connect to a wireless network, and access additional settings. Tap the Settings icon to further manage your battery usage, apps, parental controls, and more.

Quick Actions

Swipe down from the top of the screen to show Quick Actions:

  • Auto-Rotate - Lock and unlock screen rotation.
  • Brightness - Adjust the screen brightness.
  • Wireless - Connect to a wireless network, pair a Bluetooth device, and turn on Airplane Mode.
  • Quiet Time - For Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation) and Kindle Fire HDX (3rd Generation), hide notifications and mute notification sounds.
  • Firefly - For Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (3rd Generation), open the Firefly app.
  • Settings - Access additional device settings, such as the date and time, parental controls, keyboards, accessibility options, and more.

Tip: Tap the search icon to enter search terms. You can search within Settings or search everywhere on your device.

Household Profiles

Device Options

Change the date and time, back up your device, view and free device storage space, install system updates, change your device name, and more.
