Manage Your Device Storage
If you need additional device storage space, or you have content that you no longer
use, you can remove items from your Fire tablet.
Any digital purchases made from Amazon are saved to the Cloud and can be downloaded
to your device again. Individual app settings or in-app items may be lost when removed
from your Fire tablet. Check with the app developer for more details on their app
policies before removing an app from your Fire tablet.
To remove items from your Fire tablet:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.
- Tap Device Options, and then tap Storage.
- Tap 1-Tap Archive to free up storage space for items that have not been recently used. Tap Archive to remove all of them from your device.
- Tap a content category from the list to see the file names and sizes. Select the
checkbox next to any items you want to remove, and then tap Remove. Essential programs in the System Applications and System folder are needed to operate
your Fire tablet, and cannot be modified or removed.
Tip: To permanently remove apps, games or music from the Cloud, go to the Apps, Games or Music library on your device, tap Cloud, and then press and hold the item you want to remove. Tap Delete from Cloud. If you want to permanently remove content from the Cloud, you can do so from Manage Your Content and Devices (https://www.amazon.com/mycd).
Note: If your child uses Amazon Kids on your Fire tablet, any items that have been downloaded
to your child's profile contributes to your overall device storage. To remove items
from a child profile, access the child profile, and then tap a content library, such
as Books. Press and hold the downloaded item you want to remove, and then tap Remove from Device.
