  2. For your safety, follow the specific PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY on the inside cover.
  3. This appliance must be grounded - only connect it to a properly grounded outlet. For guidance, follow the GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS on page 3.
  4. Install this appliance in a location based on the provided installation instructions on page 9.
  5. Certain items (like whole eggs, sealed containers, and closed glass jars) may explode when heated and should never be cooked or warmed in this oven.
  6. Use this appliance only for its intended use, as described in the manual. Do not heat or use corrosive chemicals or vapors to clean this appliance. This oven is designed to heat, cook, or dry food and should only be used for those reasons. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use.
  7. This device, its voice features, and the included accessories are not intended for use by children under the age of 13. Do not allow children to use this device. Adult supervision is recommended if used by persons over the age of 13. Hot contents can cause severe burns. Use caution when removing hot items.
  8. Do not operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped. Be careful using the power cord and plug. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or harm when using the power cord, follow these instructions:
  9. This appliance should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. If your appliance needs service, please contact Amazon Customer Support.
  10. To avoid overheating, do not cover or block any openings on the appliance or cover the racks with metal foil.
  11. Do not store this appliance outdoors. Do not use this product near water - for example, near a kitchen sink, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, or similar locations.
  12. Similarly, do not immerse the power cord or plug in water.

Connecting your Amazon Smart Oven to Alexa

Your oven can be controlled with Alexa using any Alexa-enabled device such as an Echo, Echo Dot, or the Alexa app. To control your oven using Alexa, you'll need to set up your oven and connect to Alexa. To do so:

  1. Download the latest version of the Amazon Alexa app from the app store.
  2. Plug your oven into a power outlet that is grounded.
  3. Open the Alexa app, then tap the Devices icon in the lower right and add your oven as a new device.

Illustration of a smart phone shows a forefinger placed on the right hand bottom button.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your oven.

Once your oven is set up, it will beep and the LED will display the Wi-Fi icon and the local time in your location. You will also be able to access the oven's Settings in the Devices section of the Alexa app.

Note: It may take a few minutes for the LED to display the correct local time.

Setting up the Ask Alexa button

The Ask Alexa button makes Alexa control even simpler. Instead of saying, "Alexa, microwave for 1 minute," just press and release the Ask Alexa button and say "1 minute."

The Ask Alexa button will instantly put a paired Alexa-enabled device in listening mode, just as saying "Alexa" would.

The Alexa control consists of three function keys: the Ask Alexa button in the centre, Defrost button to the left and Preset Cook button to the right.

To set up and manage the Ask Alexa button, go to the oven's Settings page in the Devices section of the Alexa app and select Ask Alexa.

Refer to the back cover of this user manual or the Things to Try card for more examples of how the Ask Alexa button can make using Alexa even simpler.
